From September 27 to 30, the 2024 World Design Cities Conference (WDCC), jointly hosted by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and UNESCO, and organized by entities including the Shanghai Branch of China Media Group, was successfully held at the Shanghai Expo Urban Best Practices Area. Wuhan, a designated City of Design, was invited to attend this year's conference. He Mei, the Chief Planner of the Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Natural Resources and Urban-Rural Development , led a delegation of nine representatives from the Bureau, the Wuhan Planning and Design Institute, and the Wuhan Planning Association to participate in the opening ceremony, the UNESCO Creative Cities Design Forum, the "UNESCO Creative Cities Network" (UCCN) Working Session, and the Design Tour, among other conference activities. They joined representatives from international creative cities to discuss cross-over design collaboration and cooperation.
As a key international event of the World Design Cities Conference, theUCCN Working Session were convened on the morning of September 28. Focusing on core topics such as promoting sustainable development and cross-over collaboration among global creative cities, the session invited over 50 participants, including representatives from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network Secretariat, city representatives from nearly 15 countries across Europe, Asia, and Africa, including Italy, Spain, South Korea, Japan, the UAE, Qatar, Morocco, and Indonesia, as well as representatives from domestic creative cities such as Beijing, Wuhan, Nanjing, Jingdezhen, Shunde, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Macao, Huaian, Changsha, Suzhou, Qingdao, and Weifang, to engage in discussions.
