From November 30 to December 12, 2023, the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) will be held in Dubai, a  City of Design in UAE . In response to the UN Climate Change Conference and as UNESCO Cities of Design, Curitiba, Querétaro, and Wuhan Design City  continued to host the third International Street Design Challenge. Building on the previous editions, the evaluation process and award ceremony were refined, and the competition was promoted through the media resources within UNESCO Creative Cities Network to make it a truly global professional event.

The theme of the third International Street Design Challenge is Tactical Urbanism to Reduce Heat Islands in Cities, held from October 28 to 30, covering disciplines such as design, landscape, urban planning, and architectural design. After an open call, a total of 33 teams of teachers and students from 16 design schools in 8 Creative Cities across 5 countries participated in the competition. The award ceremony was held online on December 2.
