In August 2022, the 2022 Wuhan International Creative Design Contest, hosted by the Wuhan Municipal Government and organized by the Wuhan Urban-Rural Development Bureau, Wuhan Federation of Trade Unions, and the People's Government of Jiangxia District, Wuhan, with the assistance of Wuhan Jiangxia City Investment Group Co., Ltd., was launched. The theme of this contest was "Creativity for the Future," focusing on the future needs of the city, including designs for child-friendly stations and public facilities in creative districts. It invited professional design firms, emerging designers, college and high school students, and creative design enthusiasts worldwide to participate and unleash their creativity.

After a one-and-a-half-month open call for entries, preliminary and final evaluations by 12 renowned experts from home and abroad, and over one million online votes, 18 outstanding works emerged winning gold, silver, and copper awards across three categories, as well as the Annual Design Master Award. The judging panel, composed of well-known experts in planning, architectural design, and other related fields, conducted the first round of evaluations based on design themes, design processes, design outcomes, innovation, aesthetics, economic value, and social value. According to statistics, the competition received a total of 586 entries. After rigorous screening, 531 valid entries were selected for the first round of evaluations, setting new records in both the number of entries and the range of participation. The final results of the competition were announced and exhibited on November 1st at the "Design Night" of Wuhan Design Day, where awards were also presented.
