From November 8 to 30, 2013, the 2nd Wuhan Design Biennale and the 12th Cultural Festival of the First Revolution of 1911were held at the open campus of Hubei Institute of Fine Arts Tanhualin Art District. Continuing the concept of the first biennale, "The Combination of Engineering and Art", this edition was themed "An Artistic City" to interpret the relationship between engineering technology and art. The exhibition featured design displays in sections such as urban archives, urban planning, Wuhan design, green buildings, and engineering art, showcasing over 300 panels and a series of outdoor installations and architectural sculptures. Additionally, six international forums, four national forums, and three industry conferences were held. Utilizing new media and other artistic means, the exhibition content was dynamic, diverse, and rapidly disseminated, making it more accessible to the public. Furthermore, to expand therange of activities of design culture, the 12th Cultural Festival of the First Revolution of 1911 was held concurrently, encompassing over 20 cultural events benefiting the people.
