From November 1 to 10, 2019, the 2019 Wuhan Design Day and the 5th Wuhan Design Biennale were held. This was the inaugural Wuhan Design Day, themed "Exquisite·City". The Biennale and Design Day events were held across four exhibition areas: Pinghe Packing Factory in Jiang'an District, Hankou Riverbank, Tanhualin in Wuchang District, and the Art Museum of South Taizihu Innovation Valley in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone. A total of 13 exhibitions and 37 various events and forums were organized, showcasing over 1,000 works. The event comprehensively demonstrated Wuhan's outstanding achievements in urban planning and design, engineering design, industrial design, animation design, fashion design, automotive design, original art, and handcraft design. It reflected the city's enhanced design capabilities since its application for the designation of "City of Design" and its subsequent development into a design powerhouse. The event attracted more than 500 international and domestic design professionals, with participation from 20 cities at home and abroad. Over two million people attended the design activities and visited the biennale.
